Third time success!

Last Saturdays, Shrewsbury Maple Syrup Festival was another success with over 580, people coming to breakfast, Sinclair Bush and the Sugar Barn.  We raised close to $5,000.00 to help maintain our Community Center.

This year we got a big boost from the CK Community Fund, who last year granted the Shrewsbury and Raglan Assembly $13,000.00 to build the pole barn, we used for the festival. We also built four new picnic tables, thanks to Town and Country Lumber.

Our events are created by dedicated volunteers from Blenheim and Shrewsbury and Chatham. They spread mulch on the trails, parked cars, helped clean up, and as usual, folks in the kitchen and on floor worked like a well oiled machine. The Festival went off, without a hitch.

Cooking began earlier in the week with baked goods and popcorn continued through Friday with sausage and all Saturday morning with Pancakes, Cotton Candy and Apple Cider.

For their contributions to our event,
we would like to thank :
Giffins Maple Products
Town and Country Lumber
Delhaven Orchards
Dominion and Grimm
Blenheim Community Village Retirement Residence
The Municipality of Chatham Kent
The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority
The Shrewsbury Baptist Church
Thompsons Grain, Blenheim
Active Living Life
Clark's Drainage
And a special thanks to Mike Ferren who brought out grittles, cookers and a menagerie of pans and utensils and cooked Friday and Saturday.

Winners of this years raffle are:
Betty De Bruin, winner of a gift basket from Giffins Maple Products.
Mavis Papps, winner of a beautifully themed home made quilt made by Adriana Van Hardeveld.
Marion Kaer, winner of three sugar maple trees from the CK Greening Partnership.

Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy a sunny, sweet, spring morning with us and looking forward to seeing you again, maybe this summer, at Shrewsbury Ribs and Blues!
